At Alma, every career path is unique. Today, Léonie, an application engineer, shares her story. With a passion for technology, ecological convictions, and a desire to make an impact, she tells us what led her to our cooperative and CAD/CAM.

A generalist engineer attracted by the practical

I went to engineering school to study industrial engineering, a generalist program that allowed me to keep my options open. What attracted me was having a global vision of how a company works.

Léonie quickly developed a passion for computer science, often considered austere by some. “It spoke to me right away: solving concrete problems with a powerful tool is stimulating.”

After internships in production and logistics, she made an unusual choice:

Before getting started, I took some time off. I did eight months of community service, then traveled across Europe by bike. I needed some distance to better understand what I wanted—and what I no longer wanted.

A search for meaning… and an encounter

It was while looking for a company that was committed, people-oriented, and consistent with her ecological values that Léonie discovered Alma.

I came across Alma SCOP and everything fell into place. Democratic governance, a strong commitment through the Business Climate Convention, and a real desire to make a difference. When I saw the video of the Almatians, I said to myself: this is where I want to be.

She applied for a position as an application engineer. “The position immediately appealed to me: it was a good balance between technical skills, customer relations, and understanding industrial issues.”

Learning, sharing, moving forward together

Upon joining Alma, Léonie was quickly immersed in the world of CAD/CAM software. “I received excellent training and support. I discovered a rich, customizable tool that can be used to address a wide variety of business issues.”

But what she appreciates most is the way of working. “We share a lot. Mutual support is really part of our daily routine. We don’t work in isolation, we move forward together.”

Ecology at the heart of her approach

Committed to the transition, Léonie took part in two days with the CEC Institute.

It was intense. A real eye-opener, but also very concrete courses of action. Industry has a huge role to play.

Can CAD/CAM contribute to the ecological transition?

“Yes, clearly. These are tools that enable better production: less waste, more sobriety, more optimization. But the entire industrial ecosystem needs to mobilize. The transformation will have to be collective.”

A committed conclusion

At Alma, Léonie found more than just a job: she found a field of commitment.

Here, I can combine my technical skills, my values, and my desire to make a difference. And that's invaluable.
