Keppel Nantong Shipyard Co. Ltd is a subsidiary of Keppel Group and is located in Nantong, in China’s Jiangsu province. The company is involved in the design and construction of various kinds of special and high-tech engineering vessels.
Using Intergraph SmartPlant 3D for design purposes, Keppel Nantong was looking for a solution able to meet very specific nesting and cutting requirements. The successful cooperation of Intergraph and Alma, in particular for the development of an interface offering a bi-directional integration between Intergraph SmartPlant 3D and act/cut, led Keppel Nantong to contact Alma China and choose act/cut, Alma’s solution that allows Keppel Nantong to:
- simultaneously import all the parts from Smart Plant 3D while offering the ability to modify the part geometry and machining,
- benefit from the powerful nesting algorithms resulting in significant time end effort savings,
- improve the material use (waste, steel use).
